....I'm pregnant!!! :)

Two years ago next month I married my best friend...and come the end of August, we are going to be parents!! Eek! I can't tell you how excited I am to start this new chapter in our lives! Chris and I don't find out for a few more weeks if it's a boy or a girl, but you can bet there will be turquoise involved either way–it's pretty much the best gender neutral color ever! I'm so happy to be in my second trimester; I've got most of my energy back and and am feeling so much better! And what makes me feel even better?? Just looking at our growing little one! Awwww!

So in addition to today's slew of turquoise nurseries, you might be seeing a little more of them than usual around here! And of course I'll be sharing ours when it's ready! All so exciting!

To top off all of today's happiness, I get to announce the winner of the Cottage Coastal Store giveaway! The $100 gift certificate goes to:
Dumaurier

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! I know I will, this secret was killing me! ;)

Marianne Jones

I get a strong Hamptons vibe from this stunner! The beautiful home designed by Marianne Jones and photographed by Beth Singer is actually located in Detroit. It's light, it's bright, it's all that I love! The open living area is my favorite; the lime and turquoise is so fun and I am loving the mix of pattens in all the fabrics! The little bar area is great too...the colorful collection of glassware is an awesome touch! See more photos of the home, as well as other projects by Marianne right on over here!

House of Turquoise: Historical Concepts

The River Dunes community in Oriental, North Carolina is home to some of the cutest homes I've seen, it's no wonder Coastal Living chose the area for their Idea House back in 2007. Historical Concepts designed the traditional, coastal style home photographed here by Jean Allsopp, and I have to say I love every square inch! You may recognize some of the interiors; they were designed by Tammy Connor–one of my favorite designers! Love the big porches, grand staircase and salvaged wood floors, not to mention the color palette and coastal touches throughout...especially the collection of bottles in the breakfast room! I think that may be the cutest refrigerator I've ever seen too! See more pics and even buy the house plan here!

But wait, there's more! Just adjacent to this Captain's House is a small enclave of super cute cottages called the Crew’s Cottages, also designed by Historical Concepts. The six charming homes shown below in photos by Richard Leo Johnson/Atlantic Archives, Inc. are grouped around a central courtyard have the vibe of a historic East Coast waterfront village. Each one has it's own unique look, but all share a more simple coastal style that I am loving!

Sadly a couple of years ago the incredible Idea House burned down. Fortunately though the little Crew's Cabins were saved from the fire, and today visitors to the area can even rent them out! More info on that here! And for plenty more Southern eye candy and inspiration, visit Historical Concepts!

Living Vintage

With two bulldogs and plenty of snowy boots, I've always wanted to have a mudroom! This one designed by Kim Whitley-Gaynor of Living Vintage would be a dream to have! You would have thought the space had been around forever, but Kim and her husband Mark just recently added the new room to their home! As devotees of everything vintage, they used reclaimed lumber from their very first old home salvage project to cover most of the material costs. I am in love with the old beadboard ceiling. Can you believe sanding it revealed that lovely blue paint underneath?! Looks beautiful with the walls (painted Topsail from Sherwin-Williams)! Tons more to read about this inspiring space as well as lots more 'before' photos, so head over here next!
