Custom Pet Portait GIVEAWAY!

We're starting off the week right with a kitchen reno that is bright, cheerful and budget-friendly like no other! Lesli DeVito of the inspiring blog My Old Country House recently finished up a two-year facelift on her beautiful kitchen. (Remember her living room?? Equally as delightful!) We're talking new countertops, appliances, hardware, tile, cabinet doors and drawer fronts...and a lot of hard work on Lesli's part! I am loving all the pretty color here, especially Benjamin Moore's "Gossamer Blue" on the island and in the cabinets! And how about those those yummy marble countertops?! They actually aren't even marble...they are Formica! You can read all about that and lots more (like how she saved a ton of money!) over at her blog!

Not only is Lesli one hard-working and creative DIYer, she is also one heck of an artist! I've shared with you guys some of her adorable animal portraits before, but did you know she also does custom pet portraits too?? Well I do, because she actually created one for me a couple years ago and oh how I treasure it! (My little Kismet has grown some, but she's just as cute!)

Which brings me to the giveaway!! Lesli DeVito has generously offered to paint a custom pet portrait for one of my lucky pet-loving readers! The winner will receive a 16"x16" custom painting (worth $390) of their own special furry one. And if you need another reason to smile, here are more examples of Lesli's work:

To Enter:
  1. Leave a comment telling me about the pet you would love to have painted and what your favorite background color is! (Email subscribers just hit Reply!) Please be sure to leave your email address if you are commenting anonymously so I can contact you if you're the winner!
  2. For an additional entry, "Like" My Old Country House on Facebook, then leave a separate comment saying that you did!
  3. Pin Lesli's work on Pinterest for one more entry, then leave one more comment! (Should totally follow Lesli while you're at it, I love her boards!)
  4. Winner will be randomly selected and announced this Friday, May 3rd. Turnaround time for portrait is 3-4 weeks.
This giveaway is now closed!

I was never a pet person until I met Lily. She's a rescue dog... part Doberman, part German Shepherd... totally lovable. She's the sweetest dog I've ever met, so full of personality.

I'd love to have pet portrait of her since she's my second child. LOL

These are beautiful. I would love to have my dog Brooks painted (named after the baseball great, Brooks Robinson). He's half lab half German shepherd and has a very distinct color which looks pretty gray but has been described by vets as blue! It would look great with a light blue background. Thank you!

Our dog Max is the greatest! He is a rescue dog and is 12 years old. He's a mutt. We love him to pieces and would love to have his portrait done! Thanks for the chance to win! I love all the background colors but would probably go with the orange or red.

Two of my favorite blogs in a smash-up today! Yay! I LOVE Leslie's work and I would SO love to give my sister a portrait of her sweet dog, Louie. And, of course, of course, it would simply have to be with a turquoise background. Fingers crossed....

My Sadie girl who has been gone for 4 years now. She was my college dog and went everywhere with me for 14 years, sharing everything...dating and marrying my husband, having two kids, loads of moves. She was the most dedicated dog to all she loved (me, the tree in the yard she occasionally killed squirrels from and of course, my babies). My favorite color is of course, turquoise!

How beautiful!! I would totally get a portrait of my dog Ali! I like the blue background. I watched as he was born when I was 18 years old! I kept him and it was just me and him for years in my little studio apt before I met my husband :) My sweet boy was with me through, single days, getting married, 3 deployments, 4 moves and having my first born while my husband was deployed. He was the sweetest pitbull ever. He passed away unexpectedly almost 2 years ago :(( He was my baby...before I had my real babies!

What gorgeous paintings! Lesli really captures the spirit of the pets in their eyes! I would love to have a painting done of Zoe, my "kid with fur." She's a nine-year-old golden who still has the energy of a puppy. The turquoise background is my favourite (big surprise!) and it would complement her reddish-blonde coat perfectly!

These paintings are GORGEOUS! I would love to have a painting done of my rescue Rascal. We adopted Rascal from Cairn Rescue USA about 3 years ago. He saved our lives. He is the best dog for us - he makes my heart happy and our lives full. Even though he refuses to snuggle with me I will never give up trying, I couldn't imagine a better way to showcase his sweet face! My favorite background color would have to be a blue/turquoise! We have the sweetest tortoise shell kitty named Anastasia. We call her our "catdog" because she is more like a dog than a cat. She loves to play fetch with her balls, brings us her toys to play, comes when we call her and she loves to ride our shoulders like a "stole". She talks to us continually and we have even learned a new language, cat. She tells us what she wants or needs and we can usually understand her. She is the most precious of pets. My sweet old soul beautiful HUGE black lab, Lincoln, who we rescued 4 years ago. We lost him around christmas time two years ago. We combed the every Humane Society in the city every week for months praying he would turn up. But he didn't. His best buddy and diva, Lucy (great pryranese) has managed to move on without him. I'm not sure my young daughers and I have! We miss his sweet, sweet, steady, calm manner, and his complete loyalty. When I would get up to get a drink of water, he would get up - even though I would tell him I was coming right back! Oh goodness. I trust he's with someone else who loves him almost as much we did. How special to have a portrait of him!

We rescued our dog JoJo (a white poodle mix with gray ears) one year ago on May 5, 2012 just before Mother's day. Despite his sad past (the vet found 3 BB's in him and he was quite undernourished), he likes everyone he meets, makes each of us laugh every day with his silly antics and has taught us more about love then we could have ever imagined. My favorite background color is Turquoise.

Edie T. said...

Our beautiful rescued coondog, Ellie, is beloved by both my husband and myself. She is 72 pounds of loving adoration mixed with comic antics. Stress relief wrapped in dog hair.
The most laid-back, sweet, trusting and fun-loving creature you would ever hope to meet.

Her portrait background color would have to be a slightly muddied turquoise (like you had to ask!) or a similarly muddied shade of coral.
Either color would set off Ellie's stunning natural palette of red and blue ticking.

Please pick me. Ellie deserves to be honored with a portrait, and Lesli's work is incredibly lovely. Thanks for showcasing it today.

I would love to enter Alice, my beautiful, 5 lb., long-haired chihuahua, in the contest. Alice is getting older now, and I want to treasure her memory with a painting. She's been through all my really tough times, and she's a treasured part of my life. She had a tough year last season in Napa Valley. She was accidentally blinded in one eye. She still is beautiful to me, but she's almost 10 and I know her eye might have to be sewn closed.

I work from Napa Valley during the summer and fall every year on a beautiful mountain vineyard. She has the run of the vineyard and is very brave. Another dog accidentally ran into her eye with a bone and even though the eyeball is still in place, it's shrinking and might need to be removed. She was show quality, although I never did show her. She's been giving me "unconditional love" for almost a decade and she's a winner to me, no matter what.

Thank you for considering my request. And, by the way, my favorite colors are blues.....and turquoise would be a beautiful background color. I have a little of it in every room of my house.

Our sweet Jasmine passed away 3 years ago. We bought her from a breeder of Shih Tzu's when she was a tiny puppy - 3 pounds. She was so much fun, and was such a precious lap dog. Never scared of anyone, she always wanted to be everyone's friend, even the biggest dogs. I would so love to have a portrait made of her. Please pick Jasmine!!!

ADORABLE paintings! I'd love one of my sweet boxer, Benny... he's a rescue from BRLA and an absolute love bug :) He'd look great with a blue (turquoise maybe?) background.

My sweet dog Bailey is a rescue and when I took him home 8 years ago the kids from a camp conducted at the rescue shelter said "Oh she got the crazy one!" He is indeed crazy but truly has a heart of gold.

I would dearly love a portrait of my dear Golden retriever, Clyde, who's been gone almost 13 years in body, but who lives in my heart forever. I think his gorgeous fur would look so handsome againt a blue background.

My sweet dog, Oliver, is part brussels griffon part pug…a pretty funny combination. He loves finding gum (mainly white) on our walks and can't go to bed without the television on. His favorite channel is the Game Show Network! : )

My favorite background color is (of course!) turquoise. Like the two bottom dog portraits in your email.

LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! Thank you so much!

I would like a turquoise background of course! BTW, I love your blog. It helps me escape my busy full-of-kids life for a few minutes on a daily basis! Thank you! : )

I have an older Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff)...think Turner and Hooch if you don't know what kind of dog that is :) He is big, lovable, messy and stubborn as a mule! I would love to have a painting of him done so he can always be a part of our home.

I would love a painting of our sweet Huddy Bud (Hudson). Just before his 15th birthday, our beloved lab passed away. What a great way this would be to keep him around. And, of course, I would love a turquoise or apple green background.

I would LOVE to have a portrait painted of my dog, Abigail. I just lost her "brother" in September. I had a portrait done of my first dog, but then the artist passed away. I've yet to find another artist that I really like, but I LOVE Lesli's style and would be thrilled to have a piece painted by her. Attached is my Abigail (on the left-the gray one.) Winston is who I lost in September-the one on the right. I would say my fav background color is Turquoise! Of course!

I would love a painting of my rescue cat Spencer. He is super squishy and has lots of character that would really shine in a painting! It would have to have a turquoise background (duh!). It would compliment his orange mustache very nicely!

Phoebe is a beautiful Sheltie-Pomeranian who loves to wear pink. She told me she would be most delighted to have her portrait painted with a nice pink background. Cheers!

I don't have a pet so I'm not entering the giveaway but I want to comment on this kitchen. First I love the pastels displayed in the glass cabinets and the pink Kitchen Aide mix master. Where do you find that?

Will she paint two pets in one portrait? If so, I would love to get a portrait of my kitties Lily and Violet. And I would choose an aqua color for the background!

I would love to have a portrait of our golden retriever Lucy! She was our first "baby". Six years ago I was pregnant with our first son and my husband convinced me to go "just look" at puppies with him. Well, let me tell you- the second they plopped that tiny little ball of golden fur on my big preggo belly- I was sold. It was a sneaky- and effective- to take advantage of my mama hormones :)

Predictably, I love the turquoise background! Lesli- wonderful work on the kitchen and the portraits, and Erin- thank you for the giveaway!!

My favourite pet is my lovebird Tom. He's got a orange head and seagreen colours with a little grey, white and blue. He is the first and only bird I tamed and we've got a special connection. He's almost sixteen now and has had some serious health problems this past year, not that you would notice because he still thinks he's a young bird in every way, and it would be lovely to have a beautiful picture to remember him by. A turquoise background would be perfect for us. He still loves to sleep under my clothes, to cuddle preferably the entire day and demolishing papers which is his way of making a lovely home for us.

warm wishes,
