Don Duffy Architecture

Like a tasty dessert, I love ending the week with a beachside treat! This incredible island home off the coast of North Carolina was designed by Don Duffy Architecture, a full-service architecture firm based out of Charlotte. Can't you just feel the breeze through the turquoise Bahama shutters?! My oh my, those are amazing!! LOVE that painted door in the first pic too! AND the views....the breathtaking views! You can see more of this home, and lots more great work by Don Duffy over here! Happy weekend!!

Kelee Katillac Interior Design

I'm happy to report that in its first annual Color Report in the new September issue, House Beautiful surveyed thousands of people and found that blue is the #1 color in America, with green coming in 2nd place.
"We're seeing a trend toward soothing colors in the home," says House Beautiful Editor in Chief Newell Turner. "Our study shows that people want to surround themselves with calming colors. Blue and green are cool hues that imbue our living spaces with serenity. Our homes are our havens, and we're not surprised that the two most popular colors are restful and reassuring."
Indeed! This colorful space was from the new issue too. I immediately ate up all the turquoise, then had to know what fab locale it had to be from. Kansas City, Missouri! The apartment in a 1915 building was designed by Kelee Katillac and is actually the interior designer's midtown studio and showroom. The color palettes of the rooms were inspired by different gemstones. The chalcedony (blue) represents peace, while the rose quartz (pink) is a symbol of affection and love worldwide. You can see lots more of the space photographed by Bjorn Wallander right here!

Tammy Connor Interior Design

One of my favorite Pinterest boards is dedicated to twin bedrooms. I just love how darn cute they always are! Practical for kids, but perfect for guest rooms like this one designed by Tammy Connor for this year's Hampton Design Showhouse. The layered, collected feel of the room is just so captivating! Love the Farrow & Ball Closet Stripe wallpaper, and how she switched up the direction of the stripes on the walls. How about that incredible collection of butterflies?! But I also love the antiques, rustic touches and cozy linens. So much to take in, I wish I could have seen it in person!! The first two images were taken by Eric Striffler, the rest were all by Heather Clawson for Habitually Chic!

Carol Bancker Vietor Interior Decoration

This Martha's Vineyard home may not be all about turquoise, but it is all about color! The homeowner, interior designer Carol Vietor, recently said goodbye to a beloved (but rundown) cottage that was in her family for generations. She worked with architect Louise Brooks of Brooks and Falotico when designing her family's brand new summer getaway, and filled it with the same quirks and charm of the old home. Her three insistent daughters requested a lot stay the same (we can be like that, right?? Change is hard!) but she managed to update the look with fun ikat patterns and fabrics from John Robshaw and Roberta Roller Rabbi. I love the eclectic, warm feel of the home...definitely a place where memories are made!! Read the neat story behind the home and see more photos by Michael Partenio over at New England Home!

Siemasko + Verbridge

Remember that really cool pool house I showed on Friday?? This light-filled master bathroom resides in the beautiful main house on the same property. The circa 1900 gambrel was renovated by Siemasko + Verbridge, a full-service architecture, interior design, decorating, and landscape design firm in Beverly, Massachusetts. I love the symmetry to the open space, the mix of wood and marble, and that fabulous light fixture! The turquoise accessories add a punch of color, and with the white walls, it will be super easy to change things up. Check out the entire home photographed by Eric Roth right on over here!
