Scott Sanders + Blogfest 2012

One of the many highlights of my recent trip to NYC and Blogfest was visiting the Kips Bay Show House. My favorite space was this fabulous cabana, designed by New York City and Hamptons-based interior designer Scott Sanders (photographed here by Rikki Snyder and Nick Johnson). So much personality, so much turquoise, I love it! The fun Scalamandre sofa fabric is what first won me over...the pictures just do not do it justice! The Phillip Jeffries grasscloth wallcovering was also great–I've never seen it used in such a fun color!

Another highlight of Blogfest was touring the Kravet studio. Pretty sure that everyone there has landed their dream job! For starters, being surrounded (and I mean every which way!) by the most beautiful fabric, creative minds and nicest people ever, not to mention really cool technology, in a fabulous city like New York...I loved every minute I spent there. It was really neat to learn the behind-the-scenes stuff. My favorite moment was learning how they make their amazing Lee Jofa "Tree of Life" fabric. 300 of these intricate wooden blocks are used to create one repeat. And get this, the handblocks are almost 100 years old!!

Here's some more photos of the studio...so much beauty! I wish you could have all soaked it in with me!

Another highlight was our morning spent at the Hearst Tower, getting behind-the-scene info from some of my favorite magazines like House Beautiful (I loved hearing Editor in Chief Newell Turner talk!) and Veranda, as well as hearing from top designers. I don't know what I liked more, the beautiful pink peonies everywhere or the view once it cleared!!

Lastly, what an absolute pleasure it was getting to meet and hang out with some truly inspiring and talented design bloggers! It's always so much fun meeting people "in real life", when you feel like you've already known them forever! Here I am with the color-loving girls Maria Killam of Colour Me Happy and Laura Trevey of Bright Bold & Beautiful! (Thanks Laura for the cute pic!)

And my list of must-read blogs is now that much longer because of all the incredible new people I met! All in all, I think there were around 160 of us attending...here's just a small slice of my old and new friends!

Elizabeth Moyer of Pretty Pink Tulips, Kirsten Nease of Living In Design, Whitney Hoek of Between the Boxwoods, moi, Amy Meier of Amy Meier Design, Shelly Van Rozeboom of Van Rozeboom Interiors, Laura Trevey of Bright, Bold and Beautiful and Lisa Mende of Lisa Mende Design (Thanks for the pic, Lisa!)

A huge thank you to Kravet for organizing such an incredible, memorable event! If you want to read more about Blogfest, there are a lot of great recaps and photos out there. Here's a list of all the attendees!

Before I sign off, I cannot forget to announce the winner of the Isola Bella giveaway!!

John DaSilva

There have been a lot of really amazing homes in Country Living lately, and this 100-year-old vacation house in Chatham, Massachusetts photographed by Miki Duisterhof is no exception! The fact that it's located where it is gives it substantial cred, I know there's a lot of us who adore Chatham (including Coastal Living who just included it on their list of America's Happiest Seaside Towns), but aren't the interiors here just perfect too?! Architect John DaSilva spent a year renovating the oceanfront home, preserving original details and maximizing the breathtaking views. The owner, who loves painted furniture, worked with her friend and interior designer Denise Maurer to achieve the sun, sea and sand look they hoped for. Read more about the home here! I've actually blogged about this home before too, so you can see even more photos of it right on over here!

Paint info
Bedroom - "Icy Morn" by Benjamin Moore.
Hallway- "Buxton Blue" by Benjamin Moore

Garry Mertins

Little Rock, Arkansas designer Garry Mertins does a great job blending a mix of wood with a light, beachy color palette in this 1920's renovated home featured in At Home in Arkansas and photographed by Nancy Nolan. The pretty robin’s egg blue throughout was inspired by the family’s love of the beach, but they also wanted a mix of Old World with contemporary details. And they love wood! All the woodwork is original to the home, but freshened up with pretty paint to keep it from feeling like a dark cave. (Sadly, I don't know any of the specific paint colors–they were all custom Sherwin-Williams!) Did you notice the refreshment counter in the kitchen with a wine bar and built-in coffee system?! Very cool! Read the entire article about the home renovation over at At Home in Arkansas!

Vivid Hue Home

The philosophy of Heather Grahling, author of the color-loving blog Vivid Hue Home, is have fun with design! She recently completed her fresh and cheery sunroom, filling it with the prettiest blues and greens. I'm not sure what I love most...the Company C rug (the inspiration behind the space) or Benjamin Moore's Spectra Blue on the walls and ceiling! But what about the fab Oly cocktail table or all the chic Bungalow 5 tables?! Actually I'm loving all of her accessories! What's especially cool is that she mixed budget pieces from places like HomeGoods (the lamps were only $25!) with more expensive ones. You can see more pics and get all the source info right on over here!

Lisa Teague + Isola Bella Giveaway

Two years ago I posted one of my favorite homes, designed by New England-based interior designer and artist Lisa Teague. It was later shown in Country Living, with these gorgeous photos taken by Björn Wallander and styled by Stacy Kunstel. How cool are those stairs?! I'd smile every time I went up them! It's really no question that Lisa is considered an expert in color and painted surfaces. Lisa's blog Color Gypsy is a must-read for me! So much color, so many great ideas and fantastic inspiration, definitely check it out! You can see more of her colorful home here!

Another artist I admire is Gina Feddersen, the owner and artist behind the Isola Bella collection.
Isola Bella was created in 2008 on the island of St. Thomas and includes jewelry design, tabletop accents, pillows, handbags and more...all with lovely organic patterns and textures found in nature and the sea! Gina also recently launched her fine art website featuring her one-of-a-kind paintings and ceramic artwork in porcelain and stoneware (and lots of turquoise!). And to top it all off, she has an inspiring blog that any sea-lover will dig! Seriously, Gina has some crazy talent, I could go on and on!

The lucky winner of this week's giveaway will win her fab turquoise Isola Bella Linen Hobo Bag, handprinted on 100% Russian linen. So perfect for travel, it just rolls right up and takes up no room in your suitcase. AND it's super cute!!
