Modern Beach House

Thanks for all of your awesome suggestions yesterday!! I didn't know I could get any more excited, but I did! I'm going to be in heaven on the sandy coast of Massachusetts. Sometimes I wonder how in the heck I can live in Minnesota when the sea is constantly beckoning me! (Although it helps we have our 10,000 lakes!) This home from Better Homes & Gardens reminds me how easy it is to bring the beach home, where ever you happen to live. Can you believe all of the homeowners fantastic collections? I'm loving the vintage globes, aqua pottery vases and collection of paintings in the bedroom. The vintage map of Cape Cod is perfect (and timely too!!) See more images right here!

Travel Advice?

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend! I stayed put here in Minnesota...for now! In a few weeks though Chris and I will be heading to the coast of Massachusetts for a few days. You don't even know how excited I am. I've been wanting to visit the area for as long as I can remember. We'll actually be celebrating our anniversary (of our first date...we can keep celebrating that even though we're married now, right?) as well as my birthday! We are planning to spend a day taking in Cape Cod (we're staying in Hyannis), then spending a day on Martha's Vineyard and another day on Nantucket. So we'd love to hear any and all suggestions you guys might have on where to dine, tour, shop...you always have the best ideas! Although I'm quite certain if the entire vacation is spent drooling over all the charming homes like this one on the Vineyard photographed by Alaina of Live Creating Yourself, I'll be the happiest tourist of them all! :)

Tobi Fairley

If you're like me, I know you all just fell head over heals in love with this drop dead gorgeous kitchen and bath designed by Tobi Fairley, of course! Who else knows how to perfectly execute our beloved blues in such a sophisticated, elegant way?! The two-tone faux-finished kitchen cabinetry is breathtaking! And I absolutely LOVE the dining area with the built-in banquette and its fab Schumacher print. The bathroom is just as lovely with the same calm palette and airy feel as the kitchen. I love the sea glass accent tile and fabric on the roman shades. The kitchen is actually gracing the cover of this month's At Home in Arkansas and there's lots more beautiful photography by Nancy Nolan to savor. Read all about the home and see the images here!

And with that, I wish you all an awesome Labor Day weekend!! Be safe and have fun! I'll see you back here on Tuesday! :)

Porter Design Company

Remember that fantastic orange and turquoise showhouse bedroom last week designed by Porter Design Company? Designer Lauren Guarcello serves us another tasty treat with this home, filled with a fresh approach and fabulous fabrics! I'm loving the burst of turquoise on the chair upholstered in Quadrille's Nitik II from China Seas. Looks so great next to that navy sofa trimmed in green! For more design inspiration, check out Porter Design Company's blog...lots of eye candy there too!
