Michael Penny

I feel like House & Home has been teasing me with glimpses into the home belonging to designer Michael Penny for what seems like forever! So I was really happy to see them do an entire feature with lovely photographs taken by Donna Griffith. Don't you love how comfy and cozy his house is? I adore his attainable style, and how he and his wife Sarah incorporated a ton of DIY ideas and penny-pinched their way through decorating their new Oshawa, Ontario home. I especially love their cute kitchen with the hexagonal floor tiles and cabinetry painted Martha Stewart Living Salt Glaze (MSL141). For lots more, including befores-n-afters, head to House & Home or Michael's blog!

I love that they made such a beautiful home with practical, not-expensive fixes (a lot of used/found/kept items) - and a lot of sweat equity. Truly beautiful and wonderfully inspiring.

I enjoy the mix of styles and pops of other colour - it makes the house seem so effortless.

Been off line for couple of weeks now and checked in...all i can say is WOW! I have no idea where u find all these UNBELIEVABLY beautiful images. Australian trends are so cold and masculine currently. But I just can't get enough of these images- such eye candy. I feel like im addicted or something, i get this strange "high" feeling when looking. These are the kinds of homes I want to live in. Congratulations on such an amazing blog.

The first photo reminded me of my tiny kitchen except for the beautiful color of paint they used (Did you say it was Martha Stewart?). Oh, and the stainless steel appliances. I'm inspired, again by the beautiful images you choose.

It looks great, you did a good job designing your house, it's so bright, I like how you use the contrast of blue and white almost in all your rooms.

I am therefore happy a person submitted this particular, or else I would not have observed which beautiful kitchen area! I really like they held the initial cupboards but still created the whole kitchen area appear contemporary as well as comfortable. Like it!
