Sunshine and summertime today, courtesy of
Cottage Life magazine! This tiny cabin located near Sault Ste Marie, Michigan couldn't be any cuter. The owner selected a yellow and green palette to reflect the summer light and fill the rooms with warmth, and used turquoise as the perfect accent. I loved her tip for decorating on a budget: You have to be patient. She has been collecting those cute turquoise striped Carrigaline dishes from Cork, Ireland for more than 10 years...and never pays more than $1 for each one. That's the way I like it!

Oh, who doesn't dream having a cottage?
I really love how "summery" it feels.. you can't help but feel warm when seeing this, but my dream cottage would be very white with some blues and turquoise... are you with me?

I love the window too! Everything seems so cheerful that it would be hard to have a bad day.
This is so cute! I will be moving to rainy Ketchikan Alaska later this year, and I've been dreaming about how to make my house "totally turquoise" (a bright escape from the rain....) While I'll probably only have 1 or 2 rooms painted turquoise, every room will have turquoise as an accent in some form... this sunny cottage is a perfect example of what i've been thinking. Thank you!!
I love that color - we painted our kitchen in the same color last month. It gives you a good feeling while cooking :-) combinated with blue- but I like that tourquoise, too...
Enjoy your day- Ines
I love how cheerful and happy it looks. What a fun decor for a cabin!
I love the little striped dishes over the sink. Small touch but very cute!
Charming cottage. I, too, agree that patience is the key - plus, that's the whole point of collecting, imo. A gradual development...

Hey, I just mentioned you in my Brazilian blog eumoraria.blogspot.com
Congratulations on your beautiful blog!
Just to let you know because I come here everyday and hardly let you know it....I am always very impressed that you find these pictures that I have never seen before that always leave me breathless...you are appreciated!
What a lovely balance of color. I think I like the dining room best.
Love the contrast of the slightly worn wood against the bright, juicy accessories! It might take awhile to create a home like that, but it's worth it!
I hate to complain because we get so little snow here in Georgia [we had 6 inches yesterday and it shut down the whole city!] but That picture really has me yearning for spring!!!
Fun, funky, colorful. Everything a summer cottage should be.
I just fell in love with Turquoise this year when I did my daughters birthday party in pink & turquoise...now I am hooked! LOVE the sunny yellow here in your post with it too!
I'm always impressed with your finds dear!
Happy Place!
Hello again, I stopped by your blog the other night and left you a message, you may not remember who I am, I blog at The Gilded Cherub. I came across something today and I was wondering if you would like to have it. I dont know if you sew but if you do this would be wonderful. What I have is several yards of turquoise trim with large pom poms on it they are about the size of a large marshmellow... LOL I know that sounds funny but it was the only thing I could think of. So if you would like it please let me know. You can send me your email address then I can get your address and mail it out to you. I know this sounds strange but I want someone who would like it to have it. I am not selling this I am giving it to you so please let me know if you would like it, I would love to see what you can make with it.
Thanks,
Lorene

^Hey Lorene!^ Nice to see you here at HoT! I've been a follower of Erin's blog for a while now, so good to see we really ARE twin-souls and love the same things! That is so kind of you to offer the trim to Erin! She's our Queen of Turquoise, you know!
Erin, I love this cottage! Finally, a place that looks LIVED IN! The other rooms featured here are always so SO beautiful, but it makes me wonder where people put their daily life "stuff" in such pristine places. This place looks like a real person lives here instead of a designer. I just bought some Chinese-style lanterns! I am loving her Irish dishes, there is a similar type of ware from England (can't remember the name - also blue-striped) that is to die for but is super expensive if you are buying it vintage. This is such a bright, sweet cottage. I am dreaming of a place like this for me and my three kitties.

Oh, absolut darling, I am in love with that small cottage!
Summer sunny yellow, yes!
It's darling! I adore the pops of color and that window is so charming!
I will be short and sweet: ERIN, YOU ARE THE MASTER. You find these beautiful homes, be it a small cottage or a decadent, over-the-top home, and you draw us in and make us SWOON! LOL! You take so much time to find these gorgeous places and, trust me, your readers appreciate it. We love seeing these lovely homes. Thank you!
Best,
Gloria
Awwww... what a sweet little cottage! The yellow is so bright & cheery!
I love the simplicity of yellow!
