John Willey...and Your Help!

"Life's too short for an all-beige room." I couldn't agree more with John Willey of Willey Design LLC who designed this amazing Hamptons home featured in this month's issue of East Coast Home + Design and photographed by David Jacquot. I love the personality of the entire space...it's sophisticated, but fun-loving and comfy too. You really can't go wrong with Mother Nature's beachy color palette, sunshine and all!

If you guys were reading along a year ago, you may remember last November Chris and I actually took a trip out east to the Hamptons and NYC. You guys gave us so many fantastic ideas of what to see and where to go, we had such a blast. Well we've decided to return again this year, but for 10 days. So in a few short weeks that's where I'll be! You don't even know how excited I am. I just have to ask you guys again, since I have a lot of new readers now, do you have any recommendations?? Where to stay, eat, play, etc? We're hoping to spend 5 days on Long Island around the Hamptons (with a car), and 5 in Manhattan (with good shoes). Plenty of time to see and do a whole lot! Thanks in advance you guys, I can't wait to hear what you have to say! Oh and if you want to email me any advice too, please feel free! :) THANK YOU!

Great design work by JW.

In Manhattan where I live. a favorite place where the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is comfortable and I truly love to take my friends when they come visit me in the city is Tarralucci e Vino on 18th St between 5th and Broadway in Union Sq. Breakfast, lunch or dinner and the most authentic espresso bar in NYC.

In Sag Harbor, Tutto Il Giorno and The Beacon are a must for dinner!! A drink at the American Hotel, and a wander through all the amazing decorating shops on Main Street, head all the way up, there are some treasures there :)
In East Hampton, my great friend's shop The Monogram Shop, and my favorite lunch, beef carpaccio at Citta Nuova...Calypso for great beachy clothes and Tory Burch for their TURQUOISE floor.

We just went to Manhattan this last June! If you go to the Natural History Museum or Met, just know that that ticket prices are suggested. Just pay what you would like.

Have fun!

I think you should stop in to see Martha Stewart while you are in the neighborhood.

I'm going to NYC in January. CAN'T WAIT either! I'm staying at the very reasonable Herald Square Hotel - $130 a night and right in the center of Manhattan. Later I found an even cheaper place a few doors down at I've also made a travel map of all the SHOPPING I'm going to be doing, saving up now!
Also, re Broadway shows, I prefer off Broadway - the theaters are more intimate, and the one I went to starred the guy that played the mean boyfriend in the movie Titanic, and he was right there in front of me. Cool! The Wolcott is another decent looking place for around $100 a night in a good location.
