I've posted part of this home a long time ago, but it's one of my most favorite homes of all time. I love that the tiny 969 sq ft carriage house is in Des Moines (I hail from Iowa!), and that the Country Home team transformed it using renewable and recycled products. The upstairs space is incredible...the stenciled walls are just so beautiful. And I could just stare at the bed all day. I love that they used vintage feed sacks and embroidered tea towels to make the throw pillows. How perfect do they look with the lovely Plover Organic bedding! And that bird print is so cute (I saw the same one on canvas at Target a couple weeks ago!) Head here to see more images and read all about this adorable home! Have a great weekend everyone! :)
I am in love with the first photo you posted. I love the bedding, the wall treatment, and the bird print. Thanks for sharing those great rooms! --Leigh

je suis abonnée depuis longtemps à vos news et j'adore en silence jusqu'ici - mais là ce cottage est tellement joli que j'ai voulu vous dire à quel point j'aime le turquoise comme vous... bonne soirée Solène
I'm originally an Iowa girl too, and I NEVER would've guess that this is in Des Moines! I hope it's okay, with all the flooding they have this week. :(
Erin, I love your site and your work but come on -tiny 968 sq ft? That is 90 sq metre-a big flat in Europe. You guys in America have too big of everything-houses, cars, food portions. Living in houses smaller than 2000 sq ft leaves more trees, clean air and energy for your grandchildren and the rest of the world.
This charming abode is absolutely dreamy! I've got a little very vintage step ladder that is currently a dark barn red color and which I've always wanted to paint turquoise; now I know what to do with it! I've also got several sets of again very vintage shutters that were taken off an old home that is located near the Sony Studios here in Los Angeles which I've kept in storage as I haven't found THE perfect project to use them for -- I just love the bulletin board idea so out come the shutters! Thank you Erin for your, as usual, wonderful blog entries! - Kimberly

Erin, I agree to everything you are saying about this cottage. What a cosy place - incredible, full of love and joy! Who needs big mansions when you can have a place like this!
Absolutely lovely! That wall treatment is stunning in the bedroom. And I adore that the sofa is unapologetically covered in a bold lime and cream striped fabric. Perfect example of what happens when you drop fears and uncertainties and just go for it! Beautiful.
I'm from Iowa too! I had no idea you were as well :>) These pictures are gorgeous - I love that it's right smack dab in the middle of the best corn in the world! Thanks for the great post!
