I was immediately drawn to this room that was featured in House Beautiful and by Barbara Westbrook and Kim Winkler when Those gorgeous blue shutters look reclaimed, but they were actually made to order. The shade of blue was inspired by the antique wood-and-iron chandelier which still had its original paint. Lovely all around!

Beautiful! It would be a completely different room without the shutters, don't you think?

It's the perfect room! the white chair and the turquoise doors of the windows... I love every detail on these rooms.

That chandelier is fabulous and the shutters are a gorgeous color with the ceiling beams. I also love that their sofas are slipcovered in such a clean way. The whole room is just so inviting!

the hue of that color is amazing!!!
Love it. It's not just the gorgeous color on the shutters, but everything has an aged patina to it. Nothing precious, just comfortable. Deep breath comfortable. xoxo
LOL: my "word verification" is flusayi (flu say i) Hope that's not an omen of things to come!
I can't imagine that this room would look good with any other colour on those shutters. It really adds a sense of sparkle and calm to the room. Love it.
Thanks so much for the mention - you are so kind. You know I thought of you instantly when I saw those shutters..:-) They are totally fabulous!
Heaven to me...so gorgeous!
Absolutely divine!!! It brought just the right amount of colour to the room :) I want some :)
If I had the house for it :)
I don't think I have ever seen board and batten shutters used on interior windows. This is obviously a unique space and the shutters punctuate the rustic touch. Functionally it works because most often the owner will want to leave the shutters open to give the room an open feel. There is plenty of wall space for the shutters to open, and plenty of floor space for the shutters to swing closed for privacy or to block direct sunlight. The designers did a great job.
I love those blue shutters and I also love the exposed beams on the ceiling! Beautiful!
I found you site again....lost it when I changed browsers. Great blog!
I am so glad that I have discovered your turquoise blog! It is just wonderful!

Love those shutters! I don't think I've ever seen them on the interior of a room - great idea.
ooooh!
Stunning!
These shutters are B-E-A-UTIFUL!! Love this room.
LOVE this home. The owner has invited me over to see it in person...she saw it on my blog one time (the dining room), and emailed me...turns out her kids go to the same school as my kids. I'm telling you, living in Atlanta and writing a blog opens up all sorts of doors - literally!
